reflection on essay 4

For me it wasn't easy to find a short story to connect with my theme. I was trying to focus on overcoming hardships but realized it was hard to find a story to compare it with. So I decided to come up with two types of themes with taking things for granted and overcoming hardships. When you think about it you may think it doesn't relate but if you read my essay you will see how I compared them together and how it came together smoothy.  overall I feel pretty good and confident about my essay. I think I did a good job with my connections. I the class I will miss doing these blogs because I feel like its cool to read and post about our different sides with our same prompts we have.

reflection on essay 2

The essay 2 prompt made me realize that there is more to know and understand to literature writing and poems. It showed me how much someone can connect or relate to someones writing also people all have different means to the same writing. In the prompt one think that was hard for me to do the most was to try to connect the canon to the prompt. But once I got help from fellow students of mine I realized it wasn't as hard as I thought.

Not sure wether were supposed to just pick one short story we've read in class or just make connections with all the short stories we've read  -  "MOTHER TO SUN" by Langston Hughes Connections "MOTHER TO SUN" - (struggles of life) don't give up because it got too hard to succeed in life.  Relate with me dealing with struggling with school and softball at the same time. Travling and keeping up with grades/ school work. Well, tell you: Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair. had tacks in it, And splinters, And boards torn up, And places with no carpet on the floor— Bare. But the time, been a-climbin’ on, And reachin’ landin’s, And tumin’ corners, And sometimes goin’ in the dark Where there ain’t been no light. So don’t you turn back. Don’t you set down on the steps ‘Cause you finds kinder hard. Don’t you fall now— For still goin’, honey, still clim...

The moral of the short story "The pit and the Pendulum" By Edgar Poe was that you shouldn't give up on believing in hope because you never know what might happen in bad situations. You could come out happy because believing in that little bit of hope you have could change the way you handle a bad situation. In this short story because the man in the story had just little bit of hope it helped him because he was thinking of surviving and came up with a great way to free himself from dying. The moral the story "The young King" by Oscar Wilde is that being rich isn't everything. That being equals with everyone and having a happy community is better than being rich and selfish and having people hate you. Being rich doesn't make you have a happier life because you think you can have anything in the world what makes people happy is kindness and love each other.

reflection on essay 3

When coming up with what issue I wanted to focus on it was  really easy for me to chose because when I noticed male and female gender norms was an issue and started to look for examples I fond them real fast. Which is why I picked my issue. When I read the writing prompt it was easy for me to address my issue based off of what I had to cover. One thing that was hard for me to do was finding a scholarly source to relate to my issue. It took me a while to find one that was specifically what I wanted. I thought this essay prompt was good because it had us really think about the differences between the cilvil rights era compared to nowadays.

Movie reflection

Beneath is a character I thin is universal connected to humanity. I think this because I think many people have experienced the same type of things beneath has experienced when it come to her career as a women trying to become a doctor which can be difficult. Many women all over the world have a dream think Beneath to succeed in a certain career they want but are hit with problems that set them back in succeeding in them. Some examples that may set them back would be discrimination within the family and financial problems. These problems are universal to humanity because people everywhere struggle with money problems and people have been looked down upon because some families believe women can't do big things like become a doctor.  I can relate to Beneath because I'm also trying to become a doctor myself. Not a surgical doctor but a Dermatologist. I struggle in the same way as...

In Sweat by Hurston's I felt that the languages in the story was really strong, brutal and truthful. Faulkner's luaus wasn't as aggressive and powerful as Hurston's story. The language went well with the time period of the story because during that time is was very racial. The language used in That Evening sun is similar with Hurston's story because of the choice in words that were used. It also relates to the time period like Sweat. Although the words used were very cringing in a way when read because today most people don't use that type of language. The way the language relates to the identity and background of the author is that Hurston states her race was the reason why she got herself in huge trouble. There were similarities and differences between both of the stories. The min similarity is how both of these stories use the same type of language and how they both are based off of the same time era. They both also change up the way they spell certain wor...
