essay 4 idea draft

  • Not sure wether were supposed to just pick one short story we've read in class or just make connections with all the short stories we've read
-  "MOTHER TO SUN" by Langston Hughes

Connections

  1. "MOTHER TO SUN" - (struggles of life) don't give up because it got too hard to succeed in life.
  2. Relate with me dealing with struggling with school and softball at the same time.
  3. Travling and keeping up with grades/ school work.
Well, tell you:
Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.
had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor— Bare.
But the time,

been a-climbin’ on,
And reachin’ landin’s,
And tumin’ corners,
And sometimes goin’ in the dark Where there ain’t been no light. So don’t you turn back. Don’t you set down on the steps ‘Cause you finds kinder hard. Don’t you fall now—
For still goin’, honey,
still climbin’
And life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.

- "A RASISIN IN THE SUN" by Lorraine Hansberry

Connections
  1. "A RASISIN IN THE SUN"  the short story/ poem  - ( what happened to your dream)
  2. what I got from reading the short story/ poem is that the dream you're trying to reach for, what happens? Do you give up on it? Do you continue it until you succeed it? or..?
  3. I can connect this to becoming a biology major to become a doctor one day. The dream I have. Will it come true? or not?
What happened to the dream deferred?
Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore -
And then run?
Dose it stink like rotten meat
Or crust and sugar over -
Like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
Like a heavy load.
